In Fondamente, on a distance of approximately 10 km, you will find the nearest supermarket, a garage with petrol station, restaurant and bar. It is also possible to do your shopping in Ceilhes but this takes 1,5 hours of climbing and descending. Bread and croissants (3 times a week) and fresh trout (on Fridays) are collectively purchased: on the door of the reception desk is a list pinned down to register your order. Here you will also find notes where gourmets gladly share their favorite restaurants and the addresses where to buy cheese, wine or other regional products. An ATM (called ‘bancomat’) is to be found in Cornus (14 km). Larger shops and markets are in Lodève (40 km), Saint-Affrique (35 km), Millau (50 km) and Montpellier (85 km).
Cristal clear drinking water comes from our own source. The drinking water quality is regularly checked. The swimming pool, annex water reservoir for the fire brigade, is fed from the Verènne. This brook keeps your drinks cold and your food fresh. If you see a note pinned down on the doors with ‘Potje-potje’ this means that everyone is invited to the farm or the garden to bring a self-prepared dish to share meals that are prepared by other campers. It is always a real miracle to see which mouth-watering soups, main dishes and desserts can be prepared under primitive circumstances.
In the farm are supplies to cook for a group. On request it is possible to use the gas oven. Soupe au pistou is a regional meal soup. It is a vegetarian soup with ingredients such as basil, beans and garlic. Prepared together and eaten together, each year a fixed tradition on Le Pas de Ceilhes.
Many campers spend an evening at Baldy in Fondamente. Next to this regional restaurant is a new pizzeria. You will also find restaurants in Ceilhes for lunch and for dinner: for instance a typical ‘crêperie’ (French pancakes) or a chicer place.
